Our Personal Experience
The process and decisions in selecting a custom home builder are difficult. There are several quality home builders in the Tri-Cities.
As we learned, it’s not just about the end result, but also the process in getting there. The Fesers’ exceeded our expectations in all areas.
Doug is an excellent home builder in his own right. He is hands on, and uses only the best sub-contractors. In addition to his years of experience, we really appreciated his attention to detail and quality, actually a hallmark. From the grade of the lot to structural matters or as detailed as the
trim work including how mirrors and lights are hung, regardless how small, it must be perfect.
The Feser team runs a very organized operation, both in construction and managing expenses. Our meetings with them as well as with vendors were effective, efficient and scheduled in advance. Calls and emails were timely with impeccable follow up. Overall timeframes and timeline were reasonably set and met.
We knew at all times where we were on expenses; not just in total, but on a line item basis. Our total ending price was only 5% in excess of our original budget. This was a conscious decision on our part to upgrade finish work; there were no surprises throughout!
One of the best parts of this overall process was how the Fesers' made us actually feel confident with no worries. No matter how well you plan and design a home, you can’t anticipate everything. Every challenge that came up was creatively solved together.
Our only disappointment is that the process is ending. We are thrilled to be moving into our amazingly beautiful and well built home. But we will sincerely miss our daily calls and weekly meetings with “the team;” they made this whole experience fun. This will hopefully be our final home, but if we were to ever build again, it would be built by A & R Feser, a tremendous builder, professionally and personally.
